Marble chip is calcium carbonate and when it is heated it gets converted into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide. It is a chemical change as we get different compound on thermal decomposition of marble chips. The reaction takes place is given below :
CaCO 3 (s) ----> CaO (s) + CO2 (g)
