This is because perfumes contain volatile solvent which Carries pleasant smelling rivers the diffuse quite fast and can reach to people settings several metres away .

\huge\boxed{\fcolorbox{white}{pink}{Observation :}}

The particles of perfume matter are not stationary butter containers moving their drift through the air and hence we can smell the perfume the particles of perfume do not have sufficient energy to drift into the air does a few steps away from the incense stick we cannot smell it .
