Answer:

Explanation:

If you fill a bottle partially and freeze it sitting at an angle; you have enough room for the ice to expand without breaking the bottle.

I do this all the time.

Then, fill the rest of the bottle with water and it will be cool and chilled for hours.

Water expands when it freezes and if it does not have room to expand it exerts extreme force on whatever is restricting it.

Yes, it may crack. Glasses have very low elastic deformation and the freezing of water increases it's volume, the increased volume causes tension to the glass that may lead it to crack. However, the cracking also depends on the quantity of water in the glass bottle. If the top doesn’t come off to relieve the pressure, the bottle will crack. It might crack anyhow. I’ve had more than a few bottles of beer suffer that fate.

Tests by water pipe manufacturers determined that water in a rigid, confined space will exert from 25,000 to 114,000 psi. Pipes that resist freezing are made out of material that expands.Yes definetly . When water freezes its volume increases. When the water freezes it expands and wants more space but due to lack of volume in bottle. Water cracks the bottle and comes out .A bottle filled with water will usually break if frozen. Water is one of few substances that expand when it solidifies. Most other liquids contract.

Often water gets into cracks in buildings, bridges, and other structures freezes and shortens their lifespan.
