When we see any object through the hot air over the fire, it appears to be wavy, moving slightly. Please explain.​

The objects beyond the hot air appears to be wavy because the medium for light to pass through changes, the light passes from denser to rarer and then again to denser medium thereby causing refraction in the air.The temperature of air beyond and above a holy fire changes all the time. Thus, the density of an air also changes constantly. Therefore, the direction of propagation of the rays of light approaching us from the objects beyond and above the holy fire changes constantly. Hence, those objects appear to be shaking.
