Hi there !!

When  we strike a matchstick against the rough surface, it produces fire.
This is due to friction.
As the two surfaces are stroked , and due to friction , the surface gets heated.
Thus , it produces fire

In the tip of the matchstick it generally contains phosphorus , pottasium which helps to light up .when we strike a matchstick against the rough surface , Due to friction between the two surfaces heat is generated Hence, the match catches easily fire.
