when we touch the lives of the nettle plant there is itching sensation because of hypersensitivity reaction.

Explanation:

  • Whenever we touch the leaf there  is secretion of certain amount of formic acid in our body. Formic acid is a weak acid which in addition to acetic injury also causes hypersensitivity reaction.
  • As a result of this there is increase in the eosinophil count. There is secretion of histamine resulting in itchy sensation. We can either apply caustic soda to neutralize the acid or we can consume antihistaminic drugs such as cetrizine.
