Reason for inability to read is written below
Focal length of our eyes is 25 cm. In other words, minimum distance required to read is 25 cm. Decreasing the length to lesser than the given value will cause inability to read.
This happens due to inability of eye lens to change shape. Which in turn hinders formation of image on the retina. Hence, blurred image forms.
