Answer:

Cathode is always negative and the ions (charges species of a atom) sticking on it is called cation, cation are positive.

For ex: Na+, Mg+2

Anode is always positive and the ions sticking on it is called anion , anion are always negative.

For ex: Cl-

  • At anode oxidation takes place ( fixed ).
  • trick to learn LOAN ( short form)
  • left oxidation anode negative ( full form)
  • and at cathode reduction ( fixed )takes place
  • In a galvonic cell cathode is positive with respect to anode.
  • in a electrolytic cell, anode is made positive with respect to cathode.
  • in electrolytic cells non spotaneous reaction is driven by an exterbal source of current
  • in galvonic cell we produce Electricity from spontaneous cell reaction.

This is my answer

hope it helps
