Chloroplasts be aligned with their flat surfaces parallel to the walls in mesophyll cells under low/optimum light intensities so that they can get maximum amount of incident light. Chloroplasts will align in perpendicular to the incident light in extremely high light intensities to avoid photooxidation.

  1. during high intensity of light chloroplast be aligned parallel to the walls in mesophyll cell.
  2. during low intensity of light they will be perpendicular to the incident light.
