Answer:

put x + 1 = 0

so x= - 1

since remainder = 0

it means p(- 1) = 0

so

 {( - 1)}^{3}  + a {( - 1)}^{2}  - 3 + 2 = 0 \\  - 1 + a - 1 = 0 \\ a = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

here x+1 = 0

then x = -1

p(x) = x3 + ax2 + 3x +2

p(-1) = (-1)×3 + a (-1)×2 +3×(-1) +2

p(-1) = -3 - 2a -3 +2

p(-1) = -2a + 2

here, -2a + 2 = 0

2 = 2a

a = 1 (answer)
