When you add sugar to water to make sugar solution the volume of water does not change .why

because sugar is a disolving substance.

It will change if you add enough sugar, but for lower amounts, the sugar takes up the space between the water molecules, or you could also say that the water molecules arrange themselves around the sugar molecule in a way that doesn’t take extra space.
