When you add water to sulfur dioxide and put a blue litmus paper in it, why does it

turn red?​

Answer:

Sulphur Dioxide is acidic in nature as it is oxide of a non metal. So when we add it in water it ions get disassociate and as it is a acidic it turns blue litmus red.
