We know that SO₂ is an acidic gas. If we dip a red litmus paper in its aqueous solution, it will not change its colour. But if we dip a blue litmus paper in SO₂ solution, the litmus paper‘s colour will change from blue to red.

  • If we dip a blue coloured litmus paper in an acidic solution, its colour would change from blue to red. If the blue litmus paper is dipped in a basic solution, its colour will remain the same.
