According to the question,

=> Age of mother after x years = 3 ( my age after x years )

=> ( 38 + x ) = 3 ( x + 8 )

=> 38 + x = 3x + 24

=> 38 - 24 = 3x - x

=> 14 = 2x

=> 14/2 = x

=> 7 = x

Hence, after 7 years this incident will happen.
