Let length be A

and breadth be B

area = length \times breadth
so area= A×B = AB

Now if length and breadth both are doubled...

Length= 2A
breadth= 2B

new area = 2A× 2B = 4AB

therefore new area is 4 times the original area

I hope it helps

Area of rectangle = length × breadth .....(1)

Now, we have to double the length as well as breadth..
So. Area = (2 × length) × ( 2 × breadth)
= 2 × 2 ×( length × breadth)
= 4 × Original Area. [ from (1)]

There u go....
Hope it helped....
