Instead, everyone should head for the exit in an orderly manner, ensuring there is no wild rush or stampede. The elderly and differently-abled should be given preference and assistance, to exit the building first. It is advisable not to take the escalator in emergencies, unless advised by relevant authorities.

Buildings are evacuated in case of fire, damage to the building, terrorist threat etc.
