when you listen to the sound produced by a tuning fork and the sound of the same frequency produced by a sitar, you find that tuning fork sounds flat whereas the sitar sounds shrill. Why?

It is due to the reason of their difference in pitch. A tuning fork produces flat sound as it has low pitch sound while the sitar produces a medium pitch sound.

  • Moreover, Tuning fork is an object, which is entirely solid used for experiment purpose, where as Sitar is a musical instrument, chiselled to perfection and the strings are tied in proper tension to produce a soothing resonance.
