While we step ashore from a stationary boat, it tends to leave the shore, its nothing but for the action force applied by us on the boat. In case of stepping to the bank from a boat we use the action reaction force. While we apply force or the action on the boat then it tends to move backward but on the same time it apples the reaction force on us which acts in the opposite direction of the applied force and that's why we tends towards the bank of the river.
