when you take a long jump on a hard surface your feet get hurt but when we jump on sandy soil we dont get hurt why

When we jump on sand most of our Kinetic energy is transferred to the sand. And according to Newton's third law we get less reaction force on ourselves. But when we jump on sand not much of the energy is absorbed and we get more reaction force on ourselves. That's why it hurts more on concrete.
