When you work your muscles extensively without oxygen, what will form in your muscle cells?

When a person is resting or moderately active, the respiratory and circulatory systems can usually supply enough oxygen to skeletal muscles to support aerobic respiration. Most (~80%) of the accumulating lactic acid diffuses out of the muscle cells and is carried to the liver by the blood.
