when you yawn, why does someone else yawn?

it's very simple to understand that when we see someone who is truly heartily laughing we start to feel happy.. at the inside
similarly, when we see someone who is yawning we also get those particular vibrations from that person... thus, making us yawn too..

Hi nicole.
We usually yawn when we are tired or bored. We do not breathe as deeply as before when we are bored. So when we yawn it helps in bringing more oxygen to the body. This the theory behind yawning.
Someone else yawn on seeing us yawning as it is contagious...
