ions to the elemental metal for the reason stated above), the blue colouration of the solution will fade and eventually disappear and copper metal will be deposited.

So weight of zinc rod starts increasing as Copper will be deposited on the Zinc rod.

when zinc rod is dipped in copper sulphate solution then zinc sulphate + copper will formed. Here zinc will oxidisied as it loose 2 electrons and copper will reduced as it gain 2 electrons. REdox reaction with evolution of heat.When zinc is added to copper sulphate (CUSO4) solution due to more reactivity of zinc, cooper is replaced by the zinc and forms zinc sulphate. During the process, the colour of the solution changes from blue to colourless.
