Answer:

If a force acting on a body has a component in the direction of displacement, then the work done by the force is positive. Hence when a body falls freely under the influence of gravity the work done by the gravity is positive.

When a body falls freely under gravity then it moves with a constant acceleration.

  • When a body is falling freely, the only force acting on it is gravitational pull. The weight of the body is zero under free fall. It is weightless during free fall. Therefore, its acceleration is equal to the pulling force exerted by the earth on the object.
  • It means that the acceleration of the object is equal to the acceleration due to gravity which is equal to 9.8 m/sec².
