Whenever an object moves along a circular path with uniform speed, its direction of motion

changes at every point. The change in direction involves change in velocity or acceleration.

The force that causes this acceleration in the object and keep it moving along the circular

path is called centripetal force. The motion of the moon around the earth is due to

centripetal force which is provided by the force of attraction of the Earth. If there were no

such force, the moon could pursue a uniform motion in a straight line.

i) Motion of an athlete moving along a circular path with constant speed is an

accelerator motion because

(a) magnitude of motion is constant

(b) direction of motion is changing at every point

(c) athletes displacement is zero

(d) none are suitable options

(ii) Expression for the velocity of an object in uniform circular motion in terms of time

period t is

(a) v=u+at

(b) a=v-u/t

(c) v=2 πr/t

(d) v=2 πrt

(iii) athlete completes one round of a circular track of diameter 200m in 40 seconds

distance covered by him after 2 minutes and 20 second will be

(a) 650 πm

(b) 700 πm

(c) 725m

(d) 890m

(iv) what will be his displacement at the end of this time.

(a) 200m

(b) 100m

(c) ¼ th of the distance covered by him.

(d) Zero

(v) The minute hand of a wall clock is 10 cm long full stop find its displacement covered 10

a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

(a) 31.43 cm

(b)10.00 cm

(c) 20.00 cm

(d) 30.00 cm
