the nucleus contains thin fibre like materials called chromatin fibres when the cell is not dividing and when the cell gets mature and gets ready to divide, the fibres got thickened and are called chromosomes. hence,they exit in nucleus.

their significance:-

1)they contains information for inheritance of features from parents to next generations in the form of DNA(Deoxy Ribonucleic Acid)

2)they carry genes on them ,the heriditary material.

3)our facial appearance is the result of combination and recombinations of the genes
