Answer:

The special shape that is given to the object that can move in a fluid is called streamlined shape. The objects while moving in the fluid experience a certain force which is opposite to their direction. This frictional force is known as drag. In order to decrease this drag the objects are given a special shape or streamlined shape.

  • Example 1) Aeroplanes have streamlined shapes to reduce the friction force exerted by the air.
  • 2) Submarines have streamlined shapes to reduce the friction force exerted by the water.
  • 3) Body of the fish naturally has a streamlined shape.

➢ Fast-moving vehicles are given streamline shape as their streamlined shape cuts through the air very easily and thus increased their speed. The streamlined shape is given to aeroplanes in the air and ships in the water to reduce the fluid friction.
