Apostrophe is used in a sentence when we refer to a thing which is in possession of a person or when we use it for the short for of is.
For eg: That is Ram's boat.
( The apostrophe in Ram's name indicates that the boat belongs to Ram)
That's correct.
(The apostrophe in that is used to shorten the sentence as the original sentence was "That is correct."

Hey friend......
There are many ways, in which apostrophe is used---
1) It is used to make short forms.
Ex- She's (she is) going to the market
I'd (I had) some money.
2) It is used to form the possesive form of any singular noun.
Ex- It is Rahim's book.
3) To form the possessive form of a plural noun ending in 's', we add apostrophe after 's'
Ex- This is boys' hostel.
"""""" Hope it helps """"""
