Answer:

Guard cells are found covering the stomata. The plant will not be able to survive in the absence of these as the stomata will not be able to perform its functions properly. The guard cells close and open when required and if they are not there, there will be either excess loss of water due to open stomata which in turn will kill the plant eventually as it will not be able to retain water and if the stomata remain closed, the plant will not survive as no gaseous exchange will take place.
