The mild, damp and warm Walensee climate (warmth from the lake and the Föhn wind) and acidic soil foster the growth of these trees, not usually found north of the Alps. The third largest occurrence of chestnut trees in Switzerland is found here after the Ticino and Bergell!

Murg

A stroll through a chestnut forest is not only possible in the Ticino but also in Murg on the Walensee lake. Figs and grapes also flourish in the damp, mild climate. The out-of-the-way Murgtal valley with its three little lakes is a scenic gem

aishnajain: thanks friend
