proteins are synthesised in ribosomes. Hence ribosomes are known as protein factory of the cell. Ribosomes can be seen attached to the endoplasmic reticulum or moving freely in the cytoplasm. Within the ribosomes the RRNA (ribosomal rough endoplasmic retuculum) molecules direct the catalytic steps of protein synthesis-the stitching together of amino acids to make a protein molecule.
