Where are the merchants? what are they doing ?what is meant by "richly displayed"?

merchants are mainly there in rural areas.....they provide money with out collaterals and with high intrest.......they are the fast means of getting money.....and richly displayed means showing richness....

The merchants are people who are selling things like the tunics,wares,etc. 'The term's richly displayed' means that the merchants have displayed their goods in a very beautiful way.
