Explanation:
All trees are in the poet’s house. Their roots are trying to separate form themselves from the crack which was all over the poet’s veranda floor. These roots were working all night to separate themselves. The leaves of trees were working hard to move towards the glass and twigs were getting hard with continuous struggle.
ii. Poet compared the branches with the newly discharged patients from the hospital who look unconscious as they move towards the door after a long illness. They are waiting to get out from the hospital just like branches wanted to get out.
