pitcher plants are insectivorous plants they can synthesize their food except an essential compound called nitrogen.yes they lack nitrogen so they feed on insects for getting their nitrogen for their survival. they have beautifully coloured rim around them and they have coloured bottle shaped structure which attracts the insects to them when the insects get attracted and they sit on the rim they get stick to the rim and they would go inside by the fluid present in rows near the rim or mouth of the plant the lid closes and the enzyme present inside them digests the insect and they get their require nitrogen from them
