The elements with Z=117 belong to the halogen family (group 17) and the electronic configuration is [Rn]5f146d107p5. The elements with Z=120 will be placed in group 2 (alkaline earth metals) and will have the electronic configuration

Answer: Z = 117

Electronic configuration is

[Rn]5f¹⁴6d¹⁰7s²7p⁵

So, it's period = 7

It's outer most shell ( 7p⁵ ) have 5 electron

Only (group 17)halogen have 5 electron in its outermost shell hence Z=117 belong to group 17 in periodic table .

Similarly , Z= 120

Electronic configuration is

[Og] 8s²

Last electron in 8s² - subshell

so, it's period = 8

And It's outer most shell ( 8s²) have 2 electron , Only( group 2) alkaline earth metal have 2 electron in its outermost shell hence it's

Group = 2

Explanation: you can write full electronic configuration of elements and you can predicte group and period for any higher atomic number .

Hope u understand my answer
