Helen had her first lesson in history when she visited the bunker hill in Boston. The story of the brave men who had fought on the spot where she stood excited her greatly. She climbed the monument ,counting the steps and wondering as went higher and higher if the soldiers had climbed this great stairway and shot the enemy on the ground below.
