the word "science" originally came from the Latin word Scientia which means knowledge.

And it's very well applicable as science is the study of knowledge of various things present around us , from the heavenly bodies to electromagnetic waves, they're all linked to one another.  

Study of science has improved to a point that we can now derive the relations between things with distinct origin and work upon the mysteries Our Mother Earth beholds.
