Frogs do not go anywhere. Frogs are active in rainy season. As the season comes to an end they hide in crevices / below the rocks / or similar moist and cool dark places. They just stay in that place till the next rainy season. This stage in their life is called winter sleep / hibernation.
As they do not perform any physical activity their energy requirement goes down.
