Lets take an example of January month. In this month sunlight directly falls on the tropic of capricon.Hence sourthen hemisphere is at higher temperature than the northern hemisphere. In northern hemisphere, when isotherm passes through land it deviate towards equater and when it crosses the ocean it deviate towards poles.
Now,why isotherm deviate more on continents or land more than the ocean or water?
In northern hemisphere season is of lower temperature because its January and land is at lower temperature than ocean. On land, during this season atmospheric gases becomes dense and their motion becomes less due to their coolness. Isotherm is an imaginary line of equal temperature. So the high temperature is available only at larger distance towards equater.Hence to acquire the temperature equivalent to the oceans isotherm line of land deviate alot towards the equater or to acquire equivalent temperature like hot ocean.
You can ask anything related to isotherm if you.have any ambiguity
