➲ (a) Gram Panchayat

⏩ Gram Panchayat is that civil and social body where people directly participate and seek answers from their elected representatives.

Gram Panchayat is the ancient institution of the Indian Panchayati Raj. Its existence has been in India since ancient Vedic times. Gram Panchayat is such an institution, where the elected representatives have to answer directly to the people face to face and they have to get approval from the public for most of their activities. Decisions have to be taken in the Gram Panchayat according to the opinion of the people. Such a situation does not have to be faced by any other local body, Panchayat Samiti, Zilla Parishad or state body assembly or national body, Lok Sabha or any other public body. Gram Panchayat is the most unique institution of the republic nation.
