The places near the Equator recieve more heat than those near the poles because the rays of the sun fall direct and these rays are vertical and are spread over a small area near the Equator . Near the poles the sun rays are slanting.

Answer:

The sun's energy is too more at the equator. The sun is always directly overhead at the equator. The temperature in an area depends on the amount of the Sun's energy reaching the surface in that area.
