Almost all the peninsular rivers originate in the mountain-hill ranges of the peninsular India. Any river that is found south of the Vindhya-Maikal-Parasnath ranges is considered as a peninsular river.
Some major peninsular rivers & their source regions/ mountain/hill ranges(in brackets) are as follows:
West flowing: Narmada(Maikal Ra.),Tapi(Satpura-Mahadeo Ra.),
East flowing: Godavari, Krishna-Bhima-Tungabhadra,Kaveri(Western Ghats/Sahyadri Ra.),
Wainganga-Wardha(Satpura-Mahadeo Ra.), Mahanadi(Chhattisgarh hills), Brahmini,Subarnarekha(Parasnath hills).
