ANSWER:

Dispersed settlements in India are found in Hilly areas.

Option C

EXPLANATION:

The distribution of population or the density of population depends upon certain factors, which are natural factors and man-made factors. Availability of resources is a natural factor and availability of proper jobs and transport are the man-made factors which plays a significant role in the dispersion of population. In India majority of the towns and cities are situated near the banks of river or sea.

Rivers provide water for the human needs and also the soil is fertile so the population is very dense in such areas. In areas where communication and transport is good will have high population because it is easier for the people. Areas with high industrial sites are also heavily populated because they provide employment opportunities to people and the population is high.

But in hilly areas the resources are limited, the transport and communication is not very good and in the hilly areas the majority of industries cannot be set up. That's why hilly areas will have the most dispersed population.
