The spindle apparatus is vaguely ellipsoidin cross section and tapers at the end. In the wide middle portion,know as spindle mid zone, antiparallel micro tubules are bundled kinesins. At the pointed ends, known as spindle poles, micro tubules are nucleated by the centrosomes in most animal cells.
