The poet was under a Hemlock tree when the crow shook snow on to Frost. He had been stressing about the bad day that he had. When the crow shakes the snow off itself, it ends up falling on Frost. This act of the crow pulls Robert out of his misgivings and he starts to appreciate the rest of the day.
