buccal cavity of a human have three salivary glands. these glands r = parotid gland, submaxillary gland and sublingual gland. these glands secrete saliva . the constituents of saliva is water, enzyme ptyline , salt and mucin.the enzyme ptyline splits starch into maltose and glycogen, thus the digestion of starch begins in the buccal cavity ( mouth cavity ) itself.
