It occurs in the fallopian tubes of the female. The end product is zygote which gets implanted in the uterus for further development. The zygote divides rapidly to form an embryo. The embryo gets nourishment from a special tissue in the mother's uterine wall called placenta. It is a disc shaped tissue which provides nutrition and oxygen to the embryo at the same time remove waste materials from it. The umbilical cord is the connecting link between the mother and foetus. The lining of the uterus becomes thick and spongy during this period. The embryo stays in the mother's body for about 9 months which is divided into 3 trimesters.
