The stem of cactus plant is green in colour that is chlorophyll is present in its entire stem.

The thorns of the cactus are actually it's leaves but no photosynthetic pigment are present there.

Hence like any other plant, photosynthesis in cacti takes place in chloroplasts. Chloroplasts are the green pigments present in plastid of plants. Thus photosynthesis can be performed anywhere and everywhere the chloroplasts are present.
