Where does rhizobium live ? how does it help the plant ? what kind of relationship exists between rhizobium and the plant?

Rhizobium lives in the root nodules of leguminous plants like pea, beam or gram. Rhizobium has a symbiotic association with the plant. These bacteria convert the nitrogen from the air into nitrogenous substances which can be used by the plant. So, these help in improving the fertility of the soil.
After growing a crop such as wheat or rice, farmers usually grow a crop like pea, bean or gram to maintain the fertility of the soil. This is known as rotation of crops. These plant have Rhizobium which helps in improving the fertility of the plant. So, Rhizobium plays an important role in the rotation of crops and is beneficial in agriculture.
