The ball strolls down and finally fell into the water. The ball here is personified as all the memories of her childhood that are attached to that ball. The poet wants to convey that as the ball fell down in the water, his childhood has passed and could not be brought again hence it is useless to talk about a new ball because no other ball can replace that ball.
