In humans, respiration is the process of exchanging gases from our body to environment.

Exchange of gases takes place in tiny alveoli present in each of the lungs. There are about 700 million alveoli present in lungs.

Gas exchange takes place in the millions of alveoli in the lungs and the capillaries that envelop them.

The process which is evolved in gaseous exchange is respiration.
